72:1 [A Psalm] of Solomon. Give the king your judgments, O God, And your righteousness to the king's son.
72:2 He will judge your people with righteousness, And your poor with justice. 72:3 The mountains will bring peace to the people, And the hills, in righteousness. 72:4 He will judge the poor of the people, He will save the sons of the needy, And will break in pieces the oppressor. 72:5 May he endure as long as the sun, And so long as the moon, throughout all generations. 72:6 He will come down like rain on the mown grass, As showers that water the earth. 72:7 In his days will righteousness flourish, And abundance of peace, until the moon is no more. 72:8 He will have dominion also from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth. 72:9 Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before him; And his enemies will lick the dust. 72:10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will render tribute: The kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts. 72:11 Yes, all kings will fall down before him; All nations will serve him. 72:12 For he will deliver the needy when he cries, And the poor, who has no helper. 72:13 He will have pity on the poor and needy, And the souls of the needy he will save. 72:14 He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence; And precious will their blood be in his eyes. 72:15 And he will live; And he will give to him of the gold of Sheba: And he will pray for him continually; He will bless him all the day long. 72:16 There will be abundance of grain in the earth on the top of the mountains; The fruit of it will shake like Lebanon: And they of the city will flourish like grass of the earth. 72:17 His name will endure forever; His name will increase as long as the sun: And men will be blessed in him; All nations will call him happy. 72:18 Blessed be Yahweh God, the God of Israel, Who alone does wondrous things: 72:19 And blessed be his glorious name forever; And let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen, and Amen. 72:20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse have ended. |
